TEMPO

Light shield
Christian Haas x Passa ao Futuro, 2021

TEMPO, characterized by its ambient light, circular and soft, highlights the beauty of the baracejo, wild and raw material, cleverly rolled up in the shape of a shield by Isabel Martins. The cantilevered position of this element is obtained through the relationship with the fine metallic structure embedded in a stable and solid Moleanos stone block. This connection between lightness and rigidity allows the baracejo to reveal itself as a beautiful visually floating element.

Passa Ao Futuro is a research based initiative that designs programs to support the transfer of ancestral tacit knowledge into the future. Cultivating an interface for the development of ideas, techniques and skills between the historical past and the sustainable future. Facilitating collaboration and innovation between artisans and designers in the production of utilitarian designs on the global and local scales. Passa ao Futuro’s mission is to preserve, promote, innovate and activate the Portuguese artisan sector through a series of initiatives, utilizing design thinking. Allowing for and supporting a socially, economically and environmentally sustainable, responsible design process, business model and future.
